Voted an ‘Ethical Best Buy’ by Ethical Consumer Magazine, Lucy Bee’s Creamed Coconut is made from 100% organic fair trade coconut and is an ideal alternative to opening a can of coconut milk, the usage of half and then ending up throwing the rest away!
Used as it is, you’ll be able to add it to soups, casseroles and sauces to give them a lovely creamy richness or, to make your own coconut milk, simply add 170ml of water to a 20g serving of creamed coconut for light milk or a 40g serving for a full-fat version and blend.
Naturally more concentrated than coconut milk and stored in a re-sealable jar in the cupboard, you’ll be able to only use a little creamed coconut each time, so not only will it last longer – one jar is equivalent to six 400ml cans of full fat coconut milk – but there’ll also be less waste.
About Lucy Bee
The story in the back of the Lucy Bee brand is a personal one: Lucy used to be diagnosed as a coeliac aged just 18 months, and her parents instigated a wholesome and healthy way of life to suit her needs. Ingredients were not at all times easy to find and, because they wanted to eat good food together as a family, they began Lucy Bee Ltd to source and import items at an affordable price. Starting with coconut oil, the family enterprise has now expanded their range of gluten-free and dairy-free products, introducing the British public to tasty, interesting and bizarre ingredients so one can help us all to cook and eat in a more healthy way.
