Wessex is a family-run distillery based in the heart of The Surrey Hills. All our gins are created in the 240-litre copper pot still named Toby, after our Grandma. We aim to create smooth, clean and flavoursome gins. To achieve this, as a family, we have carefully chosen all of our botanicals from all over the world. We took great patience and care to create the perfect balance in our recipes, with numerous “tasting sessions”. It is a hard job, but someone has to do it.

Our custom moulded Wessex bottle is formed from recycled glass. They resemble potion bottles in bright jewelled colours. The cork stopper is made from reformed cork and makes a very satisfying popping sound when pulled. The design process was drawn out but we are proud of the originality of the bottle now.

Alfred The Great

The Clark family have developed a classic and exceptionally smooth gin in honour of Alfred the first King of England known to be ‘The Truth Teller.’ Hence why this gin comes without the fuss. It contains a precise balance of core botanicals, with a strong initial thump of juniper, followed by enlightening coriander and lively citrus endnotes.

Gooseberry and Elderflower Gin

The Gooseberry and Elderflower Gin is created with real cold-pressed gooseberries and distilled elderflower in our rotavate vacuum still. As a result of reducing the pressure, the alcohol evaporates at 27 degrees Celsius therefore not damaging the delicate flavour of the Elderflower. This brings a whole new flavour profile to the gin.

Saxon Garden Gin

Rose petals, hibiscus and lavender, are paired in harmony with the traditional botanicals to create a wonderfully smooth floral based London Dry Gin. The Secret Garden is a subtle gin requiring it to be paired with light flavoured tonic water to allow it to shine.

English Sloe Gin

Amy and Chris nurture and steep this drink for over 7 months. The perfect combination of sloe berries, to gin and then to sugar creates a syrupy royal red liquid with a luxuriously rich flavour. Perfect for a Charlie chaplain or as it comes.

The Wyvern’s Gin

This is a premium London dry gin – strong, fiery and full-bodied with a well-balanced mix of botanicals infused for 12 hours prior to distillation. The balance in botanicals in The Wyvern’s Gin is such that no one flavour overshadows the rest and you’re left with a clean and exceptionally smooth gin.
