This superior Amaretto made by master distiller Bepe Tosolini is a cut above the rest. Unlike other Amaretto’s, which are regularly made from an apricot kernal concentrate, this one is made by re-distilling spirit with real crushed almonds. I would not be surprised if there isn’t a touch of orange peel and a few coffee used as well – there is definitely a hint of orange citrus fruit on the nose, in addition to almond aromas, and a few coffee flavours on the palate. The Mascarada has a complex palate and a realtively dry finish. A serious Amaretto, perhaps for people who find some Amarettos a bit too sweet.
