Another sublime offering from the oldsters at Gordon and Macphail. A 56 year old, 1955 vintage Glenlivet, bottled below the old George & J.G.Smith livery. A part of their Rare Vintage Collection, this single cask whisky has been matured in a primary fill sherry butt.
Supplier Tasting Notes:
Aroma – Wealthy Sherry and stewed fruit aromas, rhubarb, and prunes, with a delicate touch of vanilla.
Taste – Smoky first of all with sweet nutty flavours develop and are followed by a powerful fruitcake flavour. A delicate minty edge lingers.
Aroma with Water – Sweet honey with rum and raisin aromas mix with orange marmalade and a slightly of cinnamon.
Taste with Water – Peppery with almonds and a delicate menthol note. Apples, redcurrants, sweet toffee, and a lingering tobacco flavour.
Body – Full.
Finish – Long and fresh.
