From a malt Wealthy in maritime character, this adventurous unencumber of Talisker is the primary ever to be finished in pot-still Caribbean rum casks. They have got enlivened the marine scents and peppery punch of this Skye distillery’s colourful character with the Wealthy, dark and exotic sweetness of hotter climes.
NOSE Sweet and smoky with bananas, butterscotch, sea-spray and black pepper. Candied orange and lemon appear, surrounded by a cloud of sweet and salty peat smoke. More sweet fruit notes develop: overripe, roasted and grilled pineapple.
PALATE Wealthy, rounded and sweet. A large hit of stinky peat smoke is tempered by baked apples and toasted bananas, all dusted with freshly cracked black pepper and Maldon salt. A pinch of chilli warmth is swamped by sweet and sour citrus: lemon, lime and Seville orange.
FINISH A success of plimsoll rubber and tar ends up in singed apples and liquorice sticks.
