A rare whisky from Karuizawa, distilled in 1994, and matured in Sherry Butt #270 for 15 years, before being bottled in 2010. Presented in an original box, only 480 bottles ever released. is the gold usual for rare Japanese whisky.
The distillery closed its doors in 2011, even supposing it had not been producing whisky for over a decade.
The Karuizawa Distillery used to be established in 1955 within the foothills of Mount Asama – an active volcano. The world is a well-liked mountain resort and the distillery is the perfect in Japan at 850m above sea level. Traditional, small-scale, top quality production used to be the purpose, with wooden wash backs, small stills, and sherry casks from Spain, all contributing to the method.
