The 13th of the official annual releases from the Port Ellen Distillery. Some of the rare and collectable whiskies on the earth, Most effective 2,958 bottles of this single malt, which was once bottled at cask strength, were ever produced. This was once bottled as a 34 Year Old from a 1978 distillation.
A punchy and wealthy Port Ellen expression matured in refill American and European Oak casks. This has aromas of dark toffee, picket embers, roasted beef and hints of citrus. An intense palate with creamy fruit, notes of unpolluted lemons, butter, honeyed biscuits, espresso and sea salt at the palate. The finish is accented by mint, brassiness, inexperienced fruit, cloves, tar and ash.
