Quinta Essentia IGT di Montemaggio is a Tuscan wine produced by Montemaggio for the first time in 2008. This is a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Sangiovese grapes. This wine has an intense and profound brilliant ruby red colour, elegant and fresh with a perfume of red fruit and a touch of mineral and earth. It was created as a gift requested by a lover for her fiancé and therefore its intent is to transmit the essence of true love and passion. Following a careful selection, the best Merlot and Sangiovese grapes are fermented one at a time for about 30 days at a controlled temperature (not higher than 26°C) in stainless steel tanks and wooden conical vats. After malolactic fermentation, the Merlot is refined for about 18 months in oak barrels (225L), mainly for the second passage, whilst the Sangiovese is refined in large barrels (30HL) and partially in tonneaux (5HL). In spite of everything, the two wines are blended and put in barrique for about 18 months. In Montemaggio we grow grapes with very low yields, which is an absolutely essential parameter for making quality wine. All over the harvest, the grapes are harvested by hand in crates and afterwards the berry by berry is selected, and everything that does not meet prime quality criteria is eliminated. All over the fermentation, the temperature of the must is continuously checked to preserve all the aromas and fragrances of the future wine. All Fattoria di Montemaggio’s wines are certified with the organic label, the use of only grapes grown following organic methods of agriculture, therefore without synthetic chemicals and without GMOs. The sulphite content is very low compared to non-organic wines.

This wine is the blend of 2 different grape varieties – Sangiovese and Merlot. We at all times to keep the blend within the limits of 60% of Merlot and 40% of Sangiovese
